Casino De Madrid
The origins of Casino de Madrid can be dated back to 1836 when a group of young intellectual men decided to seek out a quiet place where they could gather that was not part of the hustle and bustle of political life. They sought a place of harmony and peace and in doing so they moved a step closer to what would become Casino de Madrid.

This is a very exclusive gentleman's club, and one of the oldest in Madrid too. The interior architecture is really quite stunning. There are striking collections of sculpture as well as many fine paintings. Some of the paintings are important enough to be considered national treasures. The library itself is well worth seeing. It has a Neogothic style that simply exudes quality. The Royal supplier, La Fábrica de Vidrio de la Granja, supplied stunning lamps and glassware that is evident throughout.

For members of the public it is the rooftop terrace restaurant that they come to visit. The food is inspired by Ferran Adrià who also jealously oversees the preparations. Thetapas are truly unique and delightful, and there's a sampler menu if you want to try out a little bit of everything. It's important to make a reservation at either of the two Terraza restaurants. They take popular credit cards and are closed all day on Sundays. On Saturday there is no lunch menu, and throughout the heat of August they also remain closed.
