Burger Monster has a bone to pick with Casino El Camino. I ordered the Chicago Burger, basically a traditional cheeseburger dressed on their burger-monster-sized 3/4 lb patty. Burger Monster received an Amarillo Burger: a jalapeno jack cheeseburger with Serrano peppers and mayo. The burger took over 45 minutes to be prepared. This isn’t a restaurant either– you go to the grill, place your order, and they call you to come get it. While I understand the cook time on a 3/4 lb patty can be considerable, 45 minutes should not have resulted in the visibly pinkish-red center I received on the burger I did not order.

Located in Downtown Bozeman, Montana, El Camino is cookin’ up mouth-watering fried chicken. From our classic fried chicken appetizers to unbeatable sandwiches and burgers, El Camino has got it all. Join us for lunch and dinner. All food items are available for pick-up and dine-in. Guy Fieri calls late night spot Casino El Camino home to 'the best burger in town.' Juicy and tender, the 12-ounce monsters come topped with everything from cheese and thick-cut bacon to roasted. When I went to inform them of the order mishap accident, I was told I could wait until a new burger would be prepared in 30 minutes or I could just take the ingredients off and have the burger re-grilled which would “get rid of the pepper flavor.” Burger Monster knows burgers. Burger Monster does not think this remedy would work with pepper seeds in the patty itself. Nor is Burger Monster happy with having to wait another 45 minutes (totaling 90) for you to give me a pinkish-red centered burger abortion.

Each burger at Casino El Camino contains three-quarters of a pound of charbroiled Angus beef. Even for a big guy like myself, that is a good sized hamburger patty. The restaurant offers several types of burgers which are all named after cities. I chose the Chicago burger which had bacon, cheddar, lettuce, and tomato. SXSW Eats: Bulging Burgers at Casino El Camino Sweet Texas fire: The Casino El Camino’s Buffalo burger, a sickeningly crazy amount of beef covered in melted bleu cheese and flaming-hot wing sauce.

The Serrano pepper seeds were the only flavor on this burger. The actual peppers themselves had been drowned in olive oil and barely touched a frying pan to be given any sort of crispness. Their flavor was actually unappealing, to the point I took them out of my mouth. The pepper seeds had oozed their way into the patty, giving a hot flavor lacking any of a pepper’s crispness or juicy flavor. Flat out TERRIBLE burger. The mayonnaise was jalapeno based and decent, but this burger was nothing special. While the large size was something I admired, the lack of adequate heat to cook the middle after a 45 minute wait was pathetic. All in all, my burger was a total disappointment. I would rather make a hamburger out of my own ass.

As for BurgerMonstress’ burger– it was draped in bbq sauce and actually not terrible, while still undercooked for a 45 minute wait time. The chili cheese fries we ordered were overcooked and smelled burnt, and generally were not very appetizing. Burger Monster rarely leaves food on the table, and the majority of this 30$ meal (2 burgers and a basket of Chili Cheese Fries, along with a Dos Equis and Molson Canadian) was left not devoured.

The atmosphere of Casino El Camino is alright. It is a bar on E. 6th Street, dark and interestingly decorated with a gargoyle and very punk feel. The people were nice, and my only complaint with the service is the lack of compassion in trying to fix the (1) terrible wait time and (2) mistake made on my order. I should note they did bring me the condiments I actually ordered on the side, just in case I wanted to undress and redress the burger myself after paying 7.50 for them to get my order correct in the first place.

In sum, Casino El Camino has some stepping up to do before it will warrant my return. While it could have just been one isolated bad experience, I have absolutely no desire to return to an over-priced, over-hyped establishment that does not attempt to deliver a product of quality deserving for its high prices. Casino El Camino gets two big Burger Monster THUMBS DOWN, and those thumbs are covered in weak sauce. Not a fan.

Reviews for Casino El Camino

Quite literally one of my favorite places to get some grub on those late nights coming off of 6th street. Their late hours, and hearty burgers always make for a stellar ending to an already great night. The Amarillo burger on jalapeño cheddar bun is killer. Call ahead for takeout!

Very clean, eclectic punk atmosphere, very unique hole in the wall vibes. The food is SO DELICIOUS. I drove from san Marcos just to have a burger last night. I dream about those hawian style buns. Every order is made fresh. The buffalo chicken burger is fire and the chicken club is bomb. So so so good. I also love the back patio area. Immaculate vibes. staff is great. no complaints whatsoever 10/10 recommend

One of the best 3/4 lb. burgers in town! The restaurant is creepy with character, and grungy. The cook had a bad attitude, but gracious with his service. I did appreciate the bartender thanking me for visiting his place. 6th Street looks uninviting with businesses boarded up, with increase in violent incidents in the area. Despite that, this place has awesome burgers--move aside Hop Daddy!!
